Glass fiber yarns are a critical part of the supply chain
for the electronics market. From personal computers to mobile
phones, from automobiles to satellites, from games and toys
to industrial equipment, we take for granted the use of computers
and printed circuit boards. Fiberglass yarns are used as the
backbone for printed circuit boards, providing structural
integrity, electrical resistance, and heat resistance that
are critical for the performance of the printed circuit board.
At the end of the chain is an electronic product that meets
the customers’ needs – at the start of that chain
are fiberglass yarns.
Applications:
Use of AGY fiberglass yarns in the electronics
market include the following:
- Printed circuit boards
- Electrical insulation
Products:
E-Glass Yarns
AGY specializes in fine yarns used in
high layer count multi-layer printed wiring boards. Our
size chemistries have been developed to offer superior performance
in weaving and compatibility with finishing sizes.
- G150, E225, DE300. Applications: numerous
fabric styles including 1652,1552, 2116, 2313, 3070, 3113
- D450, D900 and D1800. Applications: numerous
fabric styles including 1080, 120, 116, 2313, 106, 108,
101, 104
L-Glass™ Yarns
AGY recently introduced L-Glass™ yarns in response to the rapid development of high-speed digital electronic systems, and the resulting need for low loss dielectric materials. L-Glass yarns provide a much lower dielectric constant and dissipation factor than E-Glass yarns.
As electronic systems move to higher speeds, substrates with low loss properties are needed to ensure the speed and integrity of the signals.
- D1020, D510, DE340, E225. Applications: numerous
fabric styles analogous to E-Glass styles including 106, 1067, 1078, 1080, 01280, 2113/2313, 3313, 2116
